Deduction for health insurance premiums to be increased

At its meeting on 22 June 2022, the Federal Council adopted the dispatch on increasing the deductions for insurance premiums and interest on savings capital for direct federal tax.
The Federal Council wants to increase the deductions for insurance premiums and interest on savings capital for direct federal tax as follows:
- the maximum deduction for single persons from CHF 1,700 to 3,000;
- the maximum deduction for married couples from CHF 3,500 to 6,000;
- the deductions for a child or a person in need of support from CHF 700 to 1,200.
With this bill, the Federal Council is implementing Motion Grin 17.3171, which was supported by the majority in the consultation. The Federal Council is concerned about the shortfall in revenue of CHF 315 million for the Confederation and CHF 85 million for the cantons.
