In implementation of the 19.3975 Motion FK-N "Improving tax justice in the flow of goods in local border traffic", the FDF is planning to reduce the tax-free limit for goods in tourist traffic from CHF 300 to CHF 150 per person. The consultation on this has been opened.
Motion 19.3975 FK-N "Improving tax fairness in the flow of goods in local border traffic" calls for the drafting of a bill to improve tax fairness in tourist traffic. In implementing the motion, the FDF is proposing to reduce the tax-free limit from CHF 300 to CHF 150 per person.
In order to implement the lower value exemption limit, the FDF Ordinance of April 2, 2014 on the tax-exempt import of goods in small quantities, of insignificant value or with a negligible tax amount (SR 641.204) must be amended. Due to the scope of such an amendment, a consultation will be carried out. This will last from November 30, 2023 to March 15, 2024.
An amendment to the FDF Ordinance could probably come into force on January 1, 2025.
